Pittsburgh Schools to divert USDA Cheddar

April 25, 2016

Karl Smithback, Market Development Manager at Foodscapes, visited Pittsburgh Public Schools last month to test Foodscapes’ Macaroni & Cheese through the districts packaging line at their commissary. The District personnel were having difficulty finding a Macaroni and Cheese with a noodle that held up to the demands associated with being pumped through a packing line into individually portioned trays.

After running several hundred individually packed serving trays through the line, the Foodscapes noodle, formulated to retain firmness under serving conditions, and manufactured in such a way that the integrity of the noodle will remain consistent at any point between our manufacturing process and the lunchroom, held up extremely well and no deterioration to the noodles occurred.

Upon subsequent and successful testing with students, Pittsburgh schools plans to divert USDA cheese to Foodscapes to process Macaroni and Cheese for their locations. Additionally, our Credit Boosters™ were tested with students, and the schools is in the process of evaluating our Southwest flavored Credit Booster for use in the 16/17 school year!
